78 Hood Fix

Postby WinnipegStPaul9 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 7:16 pm

I took the CC hood to my painter yesterday to let him see what he was getting into. His first words were "the bolts thru the hood hinge looks like crap ( he doesn't say shix)" I told him the dilemma of matching fiberglass to the metal hinge and he said "no problem today, they make a wonderful product that adheres metal to glass". He laughed and said, " I doubt they had the product in 1978". Soooooo we'll see. He's pretty busy between now and the middle of August so he won't do much with my stuff. I still need to get the tunnel stripped and to him.

My brother has a 1978 Liquifire with the bolts thru the hood problem.
Why was the hinge mounted different in 78.Looks like a peice of fiberglass was put over the hinge
instead of rivets and mounting bracket?
If you don't mind my asking, what is the product?

I have two other 78 hoods that I'll have him fix if the first one does alright. They will then be for sale.
