Re: 1975 JD300

Congrats - glad it went to a good home

Edit - didn’t realize you were in Saskatchewan- was literally out near Hafford/Saskatoon picking up a couple JD sleds on the weekend.

Re: New Trailfire Project

Made some progress, engine is all resealed and installed, painted up the exhaust manifold and cleaned/pressure washed the gas tank out.

Re: 340/5 ccw ring gear question for experts

I’m fairly certain that all ccw 340s (or at least the 5+ I’ve had apart) had the ring gear regardless of if it had electric start or not.

Re: 1975 JD800 Project

Sled had a good first trial run - drove it on what snow we had to the races / snow n shine out here. That mikuni made it run and idle great, definitely considering it on the 400 now.

1975 JD800 Project

As per usual had a wanted ad for some misc jd sled parts and came home with this 800. Says 672 miles on it - previous owner did a lot of the hard work, new crank seals and top end a few years ago. Has new drive bearings and converted to a Mikuni, and CDI. Needs a new clutch (current one has spider d...

Re: 1974 JD 400 Project

Getting the sled ready for the CPTC vintage show this weekend - found a NOS bumper only a few miles away from me for a great deal. Needs a quick polish from sitting in a shed all these years but should make the sled look better .

JD800 Clutch Options

While looking for a parts sled I may have picked up a 1975 JD800 - catch is it needs a new clutch (damaged in the spider area). What are my options/what should I look for?

It's quite peppy for what it is and sounds great with the factory pipe/exhaust.

Re: New Trailfire Project

Got the engine resealed, just running new oil lines and replacing the fan bearings. Chassis is mostly cleaned up - used some por15 then some flat black engine paint to clean it up. Re: 1974 JD 400 Project

Think I got the carb all dialed in - idling about 2200rpm, high speed needle is about 1/2 to 3/4 out. No more major bog, plugs look brown which I think is a success.

Re: 1974 JD 400 Project

I actually found it at HomeDepot up here in Canada, a quick search looks like it's available down in the states too: Tape.JPG https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Safety-Walk-Slip-Resistant-Step-and-Reflective-Tread-6-in-x-2-ft-7768NA/100391699 I was having trouble finding a grip tape that was wide enough...
