Re: 1978 liquifire 340

Here is the production numbers of the Liquifires of that model type.

https://jdsleds.com/?page_id=491

There were 1175 made. Hard to tell how many are left in barns and back yards these days! You don't see many 78 340's on the snow anymore! A good one to restore and ride.

Re: 1975 JD300

Wow, that is one clean sled. Great find.

For the oil, those came in 6 packs. When you got a case, they came in 4 - 6 packs per box.

Re: 81 liquifire

It looks just like the Harbor Freight lift but in Black. My HF lift is red and looks exactly like it.

Re: 78 Liquifire rebuild!

I would leave the heat exchanger as it is. My Ski Doo's have a finned exchanger like this and I have never had any problems with it. Unless you are going to ride in low snow conditions on dirt roads, everything will be just fine.

Re: 80-83 liquifire

I have seen those springs on the 76-78 sleds. Someone welded a spacer in there also to raise the front end some that should not be there. The 80-84 sleds used a single spring.

Re: Can’t budge 79 liquified clutch

Just to clarify when you are looking for parts. It sounds like you sled will be a 1980 Liquifire. They did not make them for the 79 model year. The date stamp on the tunnel will show a manufactured date in the summer of 79, but they are an 80 model year. This throws people off. I do like Nick does o...

Re: Kevin's Liquifire

The TR800 only came on the 82 and up Liquifire. The 80/81 Liquifire, and all years of the Trailfire and Sportfire used the 102C.

Re: WTB Sportfire Air Box

It is different. The Sportfire box is a different shape and does not use the rubber carb boot.

I put this search out a few years ago. Thought I would ask again. I am still looking for one.

Thanks!

Re: My first restoration '80 Trailfire 440

You can check to make sure it will run first like listed above. But, if it were my sled, I would change out the seals before really running it just to be safe. I have two trailfires, a sportfire, and a liquifire to restore. They will all get new crank seals before I even think of starting them up. T...

Re: Widening kit

No. The ski stance is built into the front frame. It is not like a modern day sled where you would just change the A arms. You would have to fabricate something if you wanted widen it. Way more work than it would be worth on a 40+ year old sled.
