Year & Serial # 1978 Cross Country Liquifire Serial #J34LG 080754M

Build Date - 10/77

Original/Restored - Needs Restoration

Your name - Jerry Zebro

Location - Ridgeland WI

Owned since 11/25/2011

Original Dealer - Menomonie Equipment. Menominie WI

History/Number if Raced - Raced by Daniel Grohn of Elk Mound WI. I spoke with Dan on the phone after finding the sled. He bought it after watching the 77 Balsm Lake race. He raced it in the 78 Balsm Lake Race and I believe the MN Govenors Cup. Dan raced it independent and says his 78 was as fast as the Team Deere Machines. He said the TXLs were much faster that year and the following year he bought a TXL.

Year and Serial# : 1978 -- J34LG080868M

Build Date: 10/77

Original/Restored: Restored

Your Name: Don Amber

Location: Churubusco, IN

Owned Since: May 2010

Original Dealer: L & P Landscaping, Roanoke, IN

History: According to the first owner, himself and another man wanted to race cross country in the 1978 season and so they purchased two machines. He stated that they went to Horicon, watched them built and took them home from there. They were not sequentially numbered, but built with 4 or 5 between them. He was unable to give me any race history.

Special/Comments: In the spring of 2010 I found an ad for this sled and subsequently purchased it in Michigan. Once home I took the hood to the paint shop for prep work and received a call from the shop telling me to come look at the hood. After sanding the top layer of paint off the body shop found lettering indicating this sled came from a town about 15 miles from me. I was able to track down the original owner who now lives near Columbus, Ohio and he gave me what history that he could. Never talked specifically about race history but did say that he traded it in at a dealer near Gaylord, MI. Somehow the sled over the years made it south to Saranac, MI area where my seller bought it for $25.00 hoping to make a rider out of it for the next season. He discovered that the sled had lots of value and decided to sell it, that's where I came in. I restored the sled, building it to how I would have raced it in 1978 but using some modern technology.
