Bendix carburetor gasket kits

Post by jdxrobin »

Good day to all,
I had a Bendix carburetor on a 1974 JDX4 Special (they also came on some JD 400's, 500's and 600's) that was in need of a rebuild. Finding no carb kits available, I had a set made.
They were created in 3D CAD and water-jetted out...and they fit perfectly!
If there is enough interest I will have a few sets made up for a reasonable fee (gasket sets only, with Viton o-rings and upgraded gasket material...can't help with the needle and seats).
Cost will be based on the number of sets I have made, hopefully somewhere between $9 and $15 per set.
Please email me at strmbrg89@q.com and let me know if this interests you
Thanks,
Robin

Waterjet is one of the coolest manufacturing processes to come along.
It is a very high pressure stream of water that sometimes has garnet in it to facilitate the cutting. I have one vendor that is installing a new waterjet that can cut easily through an 8 inch thick piece of stainless steel or a 14 inch thick piece of steel...basically just water with a little dust!
You can cut glass, rock, metal, wood etc., and for the most part you can hold a tolerance of +/-.005", if you can get the material up on the table waterjet can probably cut it.
Only problem is, for the most part, they are a production piece of equipment (I've seen as many as six jets on a 72" x 156" table) so getting a prototype gasket cut can get pretty pricey...unless you know the right people.
As far as cutting your jug gaskets, the process is to get a cad file created of the gasket (either from an old gasket, or the jug, preferably both), source the correct gasket material and then just getting it cut!
I am assuming that the gasket material is the embossed metal type (never had one apart) I would think that type of material would be available, but not sure.
You can send me an email at strmbrg89@q.com to fill in the blanks, and we can see what we can do.

Ron,
I have had sufficient interest that I am going to have the kits made.
I will be in contact with my vendors on Monday to get the details on lead time and will post the final price.
I would expect the kits to be available no later than 3 weeks from Monday.
Keep watching this thread for the info.

Thanks for your interest

Well everyone, they're ready. I have 50 gasket sets ready to go!

The cost is US $11.86 per set, this includes postage in the lower 48.
The parts have a 1 year money-back warranty against workmanship and materials, but, to be honest with you, when I had them made, I only wanted to rebuild my carb once so I used the best materials and processes available. I'm not expecting any returns.

I am starting a small business, Silver Lake Vintage Snowmobile Products, that will specialize in rarely available and hard to find replacements for vintage and classic sleds, unfortunately I do not have my webpage up yet. The only way I can sell them is direct from me via mail.
My address is as follows:
Robin Stromberg
2314 Maiden Lane NE
Columbia Heights, MN
55421

I will take either check or money order. If money orders are sent, I can send the gaskets out the same day. If a check is sent, it will take a few days for it to clear, then they will be on their way.

If you would like to contact me, feel free to email r.stromberg@silverlakevintage.com or you can call 612-807-3651. If I don't answer right away, leave a message and I will get back to you the same day.

Thanks,
Robin

I know I'm 5 or six years late here but you wouldn't happen to have any kits for the bendix would you? Also what would need changer to take the bendix off a 430/5 and put it on a 350/22? Thanks
