Enticer 400T/R Another overhaul

Two years ago a neighbor asked me if I wanted to buy his Enticer 400T/R for almost nothing, I could not resist... The sled runs very well but need some T.L.C. to look alright again.
Bumper and belly needs some work and the seat new cover. Skis needs new plastic and runners. Hood needs some small repair in the front.













Today I felt that I had some time over to start the ET400 overhaul

The sled has been under a cover in my back yard since I bought it.





First pumpin out the old gas



New gas in the tank. Some starting gas spray in the air box.... and three pulls after it fires up and runs





Drove the sled in to my shed, and started to take things off.
Both bumpers are bent and needs some straightening...



Someone has been messing with this sled before, I think



Two hours after taking the cover of the Enticer, the motor is out and most front end parts is loose

That is a neat sled. I have a fondness for the early long track sleds. Here is a picture of my Long Track Bravo.

That's a nice BR250T
I had a red 1988, and after mounting real wide plastic ski skins on it floated like a cork on the snow. The weak motor was perfect, the track could never spin and bury the rear end in the snow, it just slowly drove the sled forward
Deep snow driving was fun, it has a ski stance more narrow than on a Poo PRO RMK, so the BRAVO always wanted to dip to both left and right in the powder

The tractor in the picture is also nice Does it work? I'm sure it's a thrill to drive it

Took the seat of, and the plywood was rotten. So a new board has to be made.



The skid has to come out to get some repair.







One wheel and all four rubber dampers is missing.

The broken wheel bracket was repaired, and two new wheels is ordered.





I already had the skid shock and hyfax, so they are mounted now.

Drive shaft and track is out. I will mount new bearings in the upper idler wheels and on the right side of the drive shaft.



Many years ago I shifted track on my Lynx G-touring (BRP) from 25mm lugs to 32mm.
I saved the old track and now the 25mm track will get a new home in the ET400-tunnel It's about 10mm difference from the old Yamaha track

First snow has fallen, and it's beautiful outside


New bearings mounted in idler wheels and now with the new track in place the drive shaft also gets a SKF 6004 2RS.





The rubber dampers on the skid rails where gone. And I feel that I don't have the time to wait for new original dampers... so I make new ones myself.
Four old machine rubber mounts will work fine.



Jacked out on one side and the metal plate cut away on the other side.







I also have welded M6-nuts for grease zerks on all axles on the skid. you can see one of them behind the "new" rear rubber damper

To get a little better angel for the track against the snow and to get the running boards up some from the snow, I made raiser brackets.

Stainless will do I hope

4 cm difference will work just fine, I think.

Have done a lot on the sled, but not updated here..


Primary clutch cleaned.












And I have repaired the seat.

The plan was to make a new seat cover, but a repair of the old one will have to do






The skis was in bad shape, but now they looks alright again

No use to have a good track and skid if the motor is old and tired...

So I took the engine apart to change oil seals and check the condition in the cylinders and bearings.





The oil pump has not been used for many years, so I took the gear away when I changed the crank oil seal

Pistons and cylinders was just like new, so I just changed the needle bearings on the piston wrist pins and I put new piston rings on.

As usual on old Yamaha, the footboards are soft like overcooked spaghetti...
But the aluminium tubes to put on the board edge make them super stabil again

I did not finish this thread last winter, but the sled got out on snow and worked well.
But it's best to round up the thread and post some pics...


The hood had some cracks, but I repaired them with a special plastic glue.



Then I made some aluminium reinforcement for the inside of the hood.

The old but cleaned windshield got a new list to, makes a big difference.





Then the sled was ready to ride, and my daughter thought it was alright to go for a picnic with hot chocolate and sandwiches with the old ET400
