Mikuni carb

Post by dissen »

I am restoring a '80 Trailfire 440. I took apart the carburetor and the needle is pitted fairly bad. It is a 6F27 needle. After a lot of searching and calling around, I have not found a 6F27 needle. Everyone has told me this needle has been discontinued. Can someone please tell me a good replacement needle for this carb? I know there are charts out there explaining how to measure the needle to determine the sizes to find a fairly close replacement, but I haven't been around these things long enough to feel comfortable making this call on my own. Can someone please help?!

I'll check today and post it here. I'll also check my stock.

Needles rarely need replacing. Check salvage yards. Many will have clean used ones available.

A source that I have used several years ago is "Pats Small Engines" http://www.psep.biz/. They stock a lot of Mikuni parts and they have ordered for me what they did not have. May be worth a try. If I remember right, they were located in Minneapolis.
