Correct Tach?

Post by TwoDeereSleds »

The Tach in my Trailfire 340 “kinda” works, but is obviously not accurate - I thought it was an electrical issue, but then I discovered there are multiple JD Tachs…. :wall: I’m just looking for confirmation which Tach I need. Does it go up to 10,000 rpm? Does it have the JD logo? I have attached a couple photos of mine; there is no Part Number, but it has an inline fuse.

I just got our Trailfire running again (needed crank seals) and I can honestly say I couldn’t have done it without you guys!

Thanks everyone!

You would need an 80k tach, with no inline fuse.

Ok, I found a photo of one online, but it doesn’t have the JD logo…

Not 100% sure, but I think only the 10k Liquifire one has the logo.

The 10k tach you have is for older sleds that used the Kioritz engines. The white plastic piece inline with the wires is the give away. These were the only ones (as far as I remember) that used that tach. The stators are different, so the calibration of the gauge is different, which is why it isn't really working for you. The good news is that guys are always looking for good replacements, so you can easily sell that one. I have several of the 8k tachs that work on the Trailfires. A used one and new old stock. If you can make it down to the Buffalo area, I'd be happy to help you out and would consider taking yours in trade.

Ok that’s what I thought - I’m the 2nd owner so I don’t know where the Tach came from. I’ve got a couple places up here in 🇨🇦 where I’m going to check, but I will keep that in mind.

Thanks!
