Is there an update on the project? I would be interested in two or three.

If you are keeping a list to know how many to order, I would be interested in one.

Folks, I have not heard from Gary in a while but I would guess the chance of this going through is slim to none with the state of manufacturing and cost since COVID. If it did go through, I bet it's double the price originally suggested.

Hi gang! It indeed has been awhile so I decided to update this post. First, I remain committed to the project. This project has to make financial sense for all involved, obviously. While major Covid setbacks appear to be largely behind us, there are some lingering side effects still present in manufacturing. Mostly, as we all know, inflation has been unusually elevated. Wholesale parts cost are up, but we are beginning to see some raw material costs starting to stabilize, meaning further price increases may be minimal, if any. However, we need prices to not just stabilize, but preferably recede a bit.

I'm not going to go into Economics 101 here, but the long-term interest-rate manipulation scheme from the Fed is what we're watching as that ultimately determines the enthusiasm for the broader economy and the supply chain. That being said, I have the track designs complete and I am ready for prototyping. Ideally, I'd like to prototype, test, and if all quality controls are met begin an initial small-batch production run. I really don't want to sit on a prototype waiting for the manufacturing market to become more favorable.

I know it's hard to wait. Believe me, I would be a hero to so many JD sled enthusiasts if this were already done. In fact, I probably want this more than you! After the first of the year I will revisit my suppliers and see where my costs sit and go from there. I will also work to provide more frequent updates even if there is little to report.

Best always,

Gary

Hi all, not new to John Deere by any means but very new to the snowmobile side as I live in southern Kansas and just not many around here. Picked up a couple barn find trailfires a few weeks ago and told my wife this was the beginning of my midlife crisis! doesn’t snow a lot here but it can cut loose from time to time and last weekend we got about 10 inches. Got them both running after lots of fuel system cleaning. I think I’m hooked for life! So much fun and the wife feels the same. The tracks are my biggest concern so Gary if you’re still taking orders put me down for two for sure. I think for the guys like myself, yeah I know it could be converted to liquifire track but they are few and far between down here so I’ll hit the easy button and spend money to get something that will be direct replacement. I’m sure a daunting project because of the last several years but I’m glad to hear it’s hopefully getting better.

Keep after it! It would be a huge deal to make this a reality.
