seat foam restoration

Post by zpyroro »

Hello, I have a 74 JDX-4 special that I'm going to be restoring. The seat is totally shot. I need to find new foam for it. Does anyone know where I could get something like that or anyone have a seat that's in good enough shape to recover. I'm also looking for a track for it, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was in same situation as you with a spitfire seat. The old seat was still intact, but unusable. I got some maple for the wood base and copied template from original. I then got some sheets of high density foam from Jo Ann fabrics. Stuff in expensive, like anything these days. I cut and glued sheets together and took measurement from original foam and formed into same shape. Bought cover off of ebay and installed. Turned out well for the first one and from scratch.
