My unexpected Liqudator find

Post by Datordude »

Bought this Dator back in '80 it was a backup race sled of a Michigan racer, had only 250 miles on her at the time. I rode her up through the early '90's though be it with a powerplant swap in the mid 80's. Well, as time went on she sat at my dads house with my other old sleds. Dad supposedly gave all my old sled to a scrapper around 95, can't blame him they all became lost and forgotten with College, work, having a family, ect... but the old girl always held a special place in my memories.

Well, dad passed away last year, and mom needed me to help clean up around the house. Low and behold after clearing out brush behind their shed, she was still there! Well she's now relocated to my barn, not sure if I want to get her rideable again or sell her off to someone who has time to do a full restoration to her.

I have a 76' 340 Liquifire engine that I could put in her to get her rolling again, but also still have the original dator engine, with a bad lower rod bearing. Not sure how viable the original motor is after sitting in a garage for 25 years. Haven't dug my way to that area of mom's garage yet. Bad news is mother nature has taken her toll on the pipes. One is rotted away to about 20% left, and the other is about 80% complete.

Does anyone out there know if the Liqufire 340, and Liquidator have the same cranks?

If you decide to part with it you'll have no problem finding a new home for it.

Ken, Liquifire crank will not work, only option is to rebuild your crank as dator crank is specific to the liquidator motor. You have a PM with more info.

Hey there if you’re looking to sell it i would be very interested. I got paralyzed racing and now i have rebuilt a 1980 -81-82 and 83 liquifires but my dream is to rebuild a 76 liquidator!… let me know one way or another . I would give it a good home! Hoping to have a John Deere snowmobile museum someday so I can share them with other people! My phone number is 715–797–1828
