Did all the liquifires have a disk mounted between the recoil cup and flywheel? Mine did. Havent put it back together yet. It had the wrong recoil cup in it so the bolts didnt exactly line up and kind of mangled the threads in the flywheel. Oh well I have a recoil cup and flywheel but should I put the disk back in?
Thanks, Ryker

I believe the disk to be a mass dampener tuned to reduce crankshaft torsional vibration.

I have noticed that the 80-81 Liquifire's have a large steel disc, while the 82 and up have a small aluminum spacer behind the cup.

82 and up use the ring gear for a dampener. They don't need the disc

I now have the bolts and everything and an oil tank, put everything on and ran oil lines. Is it possible to test the pump before dropping it back into the sled? I already sealed up the gear case an topped it off eith oil.. Spun the engine over several times and it didnt seem to suck any oil.

There is a procedure outlined in the service manual on priming the pump.

I thought I would add my 2 cents to this thread. I recently purchased a kawi T7 motor that was reported to be a factory race motor. It definitely had some unusual mods, most extreme was intakes that accept 44 mm carbs. One other mod was removal of the oil injection - it runs mixed gas. They drilled holes in the top of the crank to get lube to the 2 center bearings. the holes a just like the stock ones for the outer bearings. I would see no problem with this.
