295/S flywheel

Post by tieszo6 »

I'm working on a 295/S engine that must have sat for many years with water in the recoil housing. The stator and flywheel are beyond saving so I am in search of replacements. According to the parts catalogs, the 340/S uses the same flywheel but is anyone aware of any other models that it is interchangeable with? Hopefully one without the prestigious "/S", ha. Also, is the stator a "run of the mill" type that is used with all Prestolite ignitions? It looks identical to the others I've seen but I know looks can be deceiving. If it's the same, I'll order a rewound stator and Fireplug CDI from Hewtech and bypass future Prestolite issues.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
Mark

I would thing the later reedvalve motors with cdi would work. 75 jdx8 or 800, and the cyclones. Probably not the same, but I would think it would work.

best ive been able to tell they are same stator , some part numbers may have a different electrical connector etc , flywheels are interchangeable through the 78s also I think , some p/ns have the ring gear on them , just my experiences ,wade

Ok, sorry for not finding this earlier but I saw some older posts where a couple different guys mentioned they used flywheels from other Markmodels on their 295/S. Looks like I'll be doing the same.
