Furry critter of the day photos

Post by 400brian »

While I was out wrestling alligators, Marlin was back in the blind snapping these photos.

This is the view out the driveway of the farm that had been my Grandfather's. That is State HWY 51 in the foreground, and I draw your attention to the pile of dirt in the ditch bank.

Here are some closer views of the inhabitants, hanging out and watching the cars go by.

Why not a badger? It is Wisconsin right?

Maybe somewhat tame already as they are so close to the road.
Should be an easy catch.

I've read they can be made pets, but I've seen the claws they have, and I can't honestly say I've ever seen one in good humor, so I plan to leave them be. The mother was hit in the road in mid May, and I can't help but think that is what will happen to these. Digging your den beside a State Highway is not the best plan...but as usual , I was not consulted.

The word was out today, as cars were parked alongside the HWY all afternoon. The supposedly nocturnal badgers spent the afternoon putting on a show. Check out the lense on the camera the guy has in the car!

On this weeks edition of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom:

While Marlin was back in the blind looking at porn on his I-phone, I was out wrestling snapping turtles.

While it was touch and go for a while, I risked life and limb to get these photos.

Actually, this is the first little one I've ever seen. We'll often see the females out looking for a place to lay eggs in the spring, and they are just never friendly!

On the Badgers; it has been confirmed that a neighbor kid caught one of them and took it home. However, his Father was not at all thrilled about this, and the badger didn't seem all that happy about it either, so it went back to the den. BTW, he was handling it with welding gloves.

I used to have two baby snappers as pets but they got big and mean and I had to let them go. It was fun putting feeder gold fish in the tank to watch them chase them and eat them.
