1984 Sportfire Restoration

Post by ihengineer76 »

Hi everyone. I figured I would start posting some progress pictures of the Sportfire I'm restoring for a friend. It started as a complete machine needing a total restoration. It is currently completely apart. All the metal parts have been sand blasted and are in the primer and paint stage. I'm shooting some 2k high build primer. The black is JD Blitz Black with urethane hardener. I'll keep posting pics as I make progress. Here is the before picture.

I did a some mixing of a few colors to get the look of yellow zinc plating for the secondary. I think it came out alright and is a bit more cost effective than sending them out for replating.

Wiseco pistons are installed, and a bunch of parts are accumulating. I have shot a lot more paint, but I'll wait to show pictures of those until I start assembly. I hope to have the engine all together tomorrow or Thursday night.
