Liquidator separating crankcase

I'm having a little trouble separating the crankcase on my Liquidator. The only easy way to do it that I see is to make a plate that bolts to the engine mount and has pusher screws that would push on the bolts that hold the crankcase together. Any help advice would be appreciated.

This is a picture of what I was thinking. The orange arrows would be bolts holding to the bottom part of the crankcase. The green arrows would be pusher bolts in the plate. Hopefully someone has an easier idea, otherwise this might be the only option.

2 x 4 and a rubber mallet will save you a bunch of time.

Maybe I should re-state the question? Is there any trick to splitting the block? This one doesn't seem to want to split?
