Greg, the early headlight is the same part number: AM52959 so the NAPA/Wagner replacement will work with '73 and up 00 series, JDX, Liquifire/Cyclone/Liquidator, /S.

Bob, the auto parts store is just going to look at the numbers on the bulb you bring them, and cross that to whatever brand they carry. I highly doubt there were special versions of a lamps for a sled.

I just bought a H5006 Halogen bulb for a 00 series, fit great, cost $12.86.

If you buy the original GE-4492 from say Central, it is $32.95 Is it better?

I have one of each now, Rich has said the original was heavier, I really didn't notice.

I just thought of one John Deere part that is still available from Polaris. The vent that is mounted on the hood on the dash area behind the windshield of many 79-84 John Deere sleds is the same vent that is used on the LH side of the nosepan on many mid eighties to early nineties Polaris fan cooled sleds. I stumbled upon this knowledge by accident back in 97 when I ordered a vent for a 91 or 92 Indy Sport. Here's the real funny part, when it arrived, it was still in a John Deere bag with a the JD M part number crossed out and a Polaris part number written above it in felt marker. I guess when Polaris bought out (or was given) John Deeres parts, they figured they could use up he tens of thousands of vents on their own sleds....and they did for a very long time to come. I don't have the Polaris part number for the vent handy, but if anybody wants it, I can look it up and post it.

Just to update my previous post, the Polaris part # for the grille is 5430958-070 and it is identical to a John Deere part # M68582. Polaris used this part on many 1986-1998 sleds and if you look at the underside of the grilles, you'll likely find the John Deere part number still stamped into them.

Polaris part # 3130015 is identical to John Deere part # M68295. This is the small o-ring that mounts on the needle jet holder on the 80-84 Liquifire power jet carbs. This is the o-ring that makes it a tug of war to pull the float bowl off of these carbs.....and the o-ring deteriorates every time you dismantle the carbs. The Polaris o-ring is kinda expensive...around $5.50 each here in Canada. Perhaps someone knows of a more reasonably priced replacement?

Any idea what models of AC you may have seen this style of handle on? I have a complete set of Fiche for Cat and I'd like to track them down.

I've seen the rear grab handles on 72-73 Cheetahs, only had one bolt hole in it though. I think all the deere handlles had three holes. (not that you couldn't just punch it out.)

I've found that the engine cover grommets for CCW engines can be found at NAPA under Belden part number 784633. At least they worked fine for me. Don

Polaris part#5410277--Chaincase lip seal for the fire series sleds. It's the exact length, and it works well. I've used these on about 3 sleds now. The price is $17.99. I've never paid more than $6.99 for one.

Polaris part#5130020--Carb body gasket for Sprintfire, Trailfire, Snowfire and Sportfire. These for some reason aren't the ones that come in the Parts Unlimited carb kits for the 32 and 34mm carbs. These are spendy.....$10.99

Added 1/4/09:
Polaris part #3130047 Needle/Seat Gasket for Fire series Mikuni carbs

Arctic Cat part #6505-171 Needle/Seat for Fire series Mikuni carb - better quality then the after market versions.

Hope this helps a few on their parts searches.
