I don't know about being "da man", I just happen to submit the lowest bid to paint this thing!

Thank you Brian.

I've been telling Don the same thing about the polishing I did on the chain case cover; "remember what you paid for it"!

Worked on the Charity Sled Engine again today and more progress has been made. The recoil was fully disassembled, cleaned, bead-blasted, greased and re-assembled with a new pull rope. Everything was painted w/ factory JD colors from paint donated to the project! :)

Enjoy!

All of the internal and external engine parts have been cleaned, prepped and painted w/ factory JD colors waiting for re-assembly. The engine should look and run like new when done! All that is left is re-assembly and I should be able to get that done sometime next week schedule permitting. :)

Enjoy!

Re: Engine re-assembly

I had a bit of extra time to myself today, so I thought I'd head over to the shop to start on the engine re-assembly. One thing led to another and before I knew it, she was all together; so I left it at a good stopping point. As it sets now, the entire long-block is re-assembled and she's about 75% complete. All of the engine clearances measured out nominally, which is REALLY good for a 29 year old sled, so this engine should be a real good runner! :sled:

I think I'm ahead of schedule with my stuff for the October 3rd. build day, so hopefully it goes without a hitch. :)

Enjoy and I have captions with all of these pics this time. 8)

I'm starting to get a little (more) jealous of the winner that looks so good. If I won, not sure I could drive it.

At lunch today, I snuck in the back room and got a little more done on the engine, so I took a few more pics of today's progress. I plan on test-firing the engine on Thursday after we fab up a wooden test stand to hold the engine from jumping around while it's running. If the thing runs... ...I'll take a quick video of it and post it up for all to see. :)

Enjoy!

I think the more "entertaining" video might be if it doesn't run!
Seriously, nice work PJ and also all the others who helped get it this far. I'm sure its going to turn some heads once it hits the snow, which really isn't that far away... :thinksnow:

Do you suppose he's assembling this while wearing white gloves?
