Re: $16 Temp Guage for the ole Liquifire
The thermostat on 1st gen. liquifires opens at 165 F and 210 F is too hot. I would expect 2nd gen. to be similar. This I learned by running a dator without a tunnel cooler and with that cooler they would run 165. (dator & liquifire use same thermostat) I think my aftermarket guage came from auto...

Re: needle bearing sizes??
some engines like a dator engine use a odd size, that no one is able to find anymore. i think its 19mm and this may be one alternative. yes a caged bearing is much easier to work with.

a year or 2 ago when i was 14 we raced mcculloch 91cc go-carts and they used roll pins with out a cage. it was the only part of the engine i was not allowed to assemble at 14.

Liquidator wrist pin bearings
heres an idea for those hard to find piston bearings. A "couple" years ago I assembled my first 2 stroke motor. I think I was about 12, any way we were racing gocarts and they were mcculloch engines. they did not have a "cage type" wrist pin bearing like what is used today. they ...

Re: 76-78 Liquifire questions (rules of thumb)
the 78 is the best of the 76-78 era in my opinion, they had the lightest rear section as they had a smaller heat exchanger and lighter suspension as well as a thicker seat. However the 80 and up liquifire has the better center of gravity and i was able to ride them much harder than the 78 style. the...
