Re: 151" Liquifire

Not sure why the pics are getting cut off on the right side? Things were a tight fit, the hammer was a vital part of this build. The main donor sled was a wrecked/blown up '93 ski-doo mach 1. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b211/toocheaptosmoke/DSC02721_zps12e98a34.jpg Used the stock jacksh...

Re: 151" Liquifire

I'll get some better pics of the engine mounting, I was making a video documentary for a while but then I started running out of time and barely got it together in time to race. :bonk: The engine is attached to a TX 340 motor plate, bolt patterns are the same. Then I re-formed it in the press a bit ...

Re: 151" Liquifire

It's a 670, not an H.O. though.

151" Liquifire

This is for Horicon Joe. Still have a few things to finish before I drag it back out of the shop and get some better pics, took it to a hill climb race last sunday and left a lot of loose ends just to get it running. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b211/toocheaptosmoke/0322041703a_zpsb00...

Re: LIQUIFIRE II

WOW!!!!!!!! I haven't been on the site for a while, never saw this build until now. You did an awesome job, I am very impressed with the attention to detail that was followed through with the entire project! Love that chaincase cover. Funny thing is, I just went through many of the exact same proble...

Re: Nice Spitfire found

Thanks for the info. From looking at the VIN it appears to have been the 60th built. 8)

Nice Spitfire found

Friend of mine has been looking for a JD sled for a while, I told him he needed a spitfire. Wouldn't you know it he finds a super clean '78 today! Probably one of the nicest finds I've seen locally. Has 700 some miles, track is awesome. Came with a new fuel pump, brake pads, and the original registr...

Re: Cooling system effectiveness on 1980 Liquifire

Thanks Joe, that's what I wanted to hear. :beers; I've ran my indy with just the running board coolers and it does not do well in low snow conditons at all. I added an under hood rad which was just enough for the 400, so it sounds like the deere's cooling system should be somewhat close to what I'll...

Cooling system effectiveness on 1980 Liquifire

Was wondering how well the front heat exchanger and small radiator did on the 80+ Liquifires? Was it more than enough or just adequate for the 440? How did it do in low snow conditions? Reason I ask is a bigger mill might be going in and I'm trying to figure out if the front heat exchanger is worth ...

Re: Finally bagged a deere

Well, looks like this deere has chronic wasting disease. Upon first inspection the motor turned over real nice with good compression, chassis looked decent with 800 miles on the speedo. Pulled the motor and first noticed that half the crank seals were literally gone. Then found the carb boots were s...

Re: Senior Engineering Student...entering real world...help

I just recently graduated in mechanical engineering and am facing the same problems as you. I would like to stay local (can't live without my shop!!!) but am having trouble finding a job with no experience. There are actually a fair bit of jobs within an hour, but you can barely get an interview wit...

Finally bagged a deere

Hey guys, been pulling clunkers from the weeds for years but never filled my deere tag. Just last weekend at some grass drags my friends were giving me heck that Barn Fresh Racing doesn't have a john deere in the stable, but, finally got one today. :beers; A 1980 liquifire, not in the best of shape ...
