Rear Running Light Not Working (80 Liquifire)
The rear running light on my 1980 JD Liquifire does not work. Headlight on Low and High and also the brake light works, but not the rear running light. I checked the filaments and even swapped the bulb. Still no running light. Has anyone encountered this before, and if so what have you done to fix i...

Re: '80 Liquifire Lighting Coil Replacement
I tested voltage with the engine at idle and the main harness unplugged. That is where I read the 1-2 volts. With that information I'm operating on the idea that the lighting coil is defective.

'80 Liquifire Lighting Coil Replacement
Hello everyone. Happy New Year and I do hope most have had some snow to ride on! The Issue: The lighting coil on my 1980 Liquifire is throwing a total of 1.3-1.7 volts. All dash lights, headlight and tail-light are not lighting up. The internal lighting coil is dead. The Question/s: The tech manual ...

WTB 80-84 Liquifire Wisconsin
Looking for a running 80-84 Liquifire in the Milwaukee or Madison area. Can be complete or near complete. Does not have to be restored. Looking for a new project but want something in good cosmetic and mechanical condition. Would be ok if has been sitting/needs carbs cleaned/minimal engine work like...

Re: how to clean crank for re-assembly
My dad usually uses kerosene or a few cans of brake cleaner. Then dries it with compressed air, checks to make sure any oil passages are clear, and then oils the dry bearings with 2 cycle oil. I guess visibly look to see that the crankshaft or the crankshaft lobes are not damaged. Pretty straight fo...

Re: 1983 Liquifire electric start help
Must have excellent compression... In any case here are some images from a parts catalog that show a diagram and the corresponding parts list that may be of use when assembling and installing an electric starter kit into a Liquifire. Best of luck. Maybe once you get it installed, it will snow. :need...

Re: 1983 Liquifire electric start help
That is good news. The reason I have never put an electric start on my '80 is because I have no desire to go drilling holes in the crank case. I've learned something new today. Was '83 the first year that it was a cover plate?

Re: Trailfire rear shock?
This would be the same dimensions. So it would fit. But I don't know if a hydraulic ski shock would work in place of a suspension shock.

Re: I Give Up!!!! Liquifire Problems
Yeah, if it is flooded there is usually an oil/gas mixture seeping out of the joint where the exhaust manifold connects to the muffler. Yes, do make sure to drain the crank case before trying to start the thing. Otherwise your crank seals will implode and you'll have to take the whole engine out and...

Re: I Give Up!!!! Liquifire Problems
Mr. Deere, I went through similar woes this past year getting a basketcase '80 in running order. I know you've said that you had the carburetors professionally rebuilt. Just make sure that whoever rebuilt them used the proper jets and needles. I had the issue with the choke not being adjusted correc...

Re: TR800 Secondary question
From what the parts catalog I have says, the secondaries meant for the TR800 have the Cam as part #AM55357 and it has a remark next to it noting it is 44°. The catalog also lists some differences in the washers used in the sheaves.
