Lots of oil coming out the exhaust pipe when running, so I want new jets in the carb also. I guess I need: Pilot jet power jet main jet,..... and what ever else you know that I need ...

Re: storing sleds

Since I live in a very low humidity climate, ever since I have owned my first sled back in the dino age, I have always started my sleds every 3-4 weeks year round. I have smelled like 2-stroke oil in every month. But hey, I like to hear the roar of 2-strokes. I have been doing this for a long time. ...

Re: Fule tank grommet removal

After some fishing, I retrieved both pieces from the tank. The hose in the tank was so brittle.

Shouldn't there be some clamps on the fuel pickup to the hose and also the hose onto the metal nipple that goes through the grommet?

Re: Fule tank grommet removal

GRRRRRR!! :bonk: I went back out and put a rag around the nipple and then put the vise grips on and then pulled. It came out. The larger part of the grommet anyway. The inner-smaller part of the grommet that seals around the tank tore off. So I then fished the line out of the tank and the fuel picku...

Fule tank grommet removal

1981 Sportfire
I did a search and found many ways to install the new fuel tank grommet, but I can't find how to remove the old one without destroying the metal fitting. That thing is in there tight, It will spin, but I can't get it out. :wall: What say you?

Replacing Mikuni needle & seat

I bought some parts from Matt, and I am inside the mikuni carb on my 81 Sportfire. In the Deere parts catalog, it lists a M65377, "ARM". Holding this arm in place is a "PIN", M65338. I need this out of the way so I can replace the "Mikuni 1.5 needle & seat". So do I...

Re: LIQUIFIRE II

Hey Joe that was GREAT to watch! Stan Hays would have liked that 583 under the hood way back when. Have you done any kind of speed run yet to see how fast that light sled is? I have the same JD Cyclone coat that you do. I bought NEW as a kid one year and the next year I went and ordered the matching...
