Read light bulb?
My rear light was intermittent so I decided to take it apart...of course bulb broke.. It looked rough I'm assuming that's the issue or the ground on it
Sled is a 77 300, anyone know what bulb is the right one?

Re: John Deere 300 no spark
Some good news... I fiddled around trying to get spark on the 400 with no luck...I then decided to swap back in the original 295 motor and tryout the tillotson hd carb....fired right up and was running ok then started getting a little funky. I got a full rebuild kit for that carb locally and rebuilt...

Re: John Deere 300 no spark
Ok perfect thanks a lot for all the help ! The magneto mut have thrown something off when it was loose. The coils ...

Re: John Deere 300 no spark
So I have a kohler 295, ccw 400, ccw 440
Walbro wda31, tillotson, and bendix carb
What carbs can interchange with which motor?...maybe I can use the tillotson hd carb with kohler?
Or bendix?
From my reading all these carbs aren't all that good..opinions..??

John Deere 300 no spark
I've been battling this 77 John Deere 300 (kohler) for years trying to get it running again Finally gave up on it I suspect the walbro carb is my issue and was tired of fiddling with it. I recently acquired a ccw 400 which appeared complete and in good condition. I did some work and dropped it in, i...

Re: Need help getting my 300 running properly!
I always put air breather, snorkel whatever you want to call it when I attempt to diagnose it. I have fiddled with the carb settings as well as the fuel metering arm in the carb. I tried to adjust it to what the repair manual says....didn't seem to make much of a difference It starts, usually begins...

Re: Need help getting my 300 running properly!
Finally got a little work started... Changed te clutch side crank seal, it appears the "mechanic" installed the plate which seal goes into upside down. If you guys are really familiar with these kohlers... the plate has basically a 3" (roughly) circle about 1/4" deep tht basicall...

Re: Need help getting my 300 running properly!
Ok thanks guys! Yeah obviously the check valve isn't working all that great! I hate havin to pull a million times, once fuel is there it fires up instantly. I do recall checkin the metering arm thing... Ill have another look when I get greasy but I do recall it all functioned good until I got a snow...
