Spitfire Spindle Bushings
I am going to be attacking the sloppy ski problem I have on my 80 spitfire and I am trying to get some parts ordered. The sled is 5 hours from me so I cannot go out and measure myself. I am looking to replace the spindle bushings (part # M67041 ). From doing a search on here I found that they were 3...

Re: No break light issues
I checked the wires and they are all good, I am getting power all the way to the socket on both wires. I will go out and check the ground and see if that is the problem.
Thanks

No break light issues
This weekend I decided to try and fix the tail light on my 1980 spitfire. I was able to get the running light to work, but there is no change in illumination when the lever is pulled. I hooked up a test light to the break signal wire and it would turn on and off with the use of the break lever, but ...

Re: Tygon vs. Polyurethane fuel line?
Well I decided to go with the tygon. Hopefully it holds up better than the stuff on there now. Why is it every time I shop on NewBreed I end up with more things in my cart than what I was looking for....

Tygon vs. Polyurethane fuel line?
I am planning on redoing my fuel lines with a little higher quality tubing than what I was able to find at the hardware store. I am looking on NewBreed and notice the price difference between the blue polyurethane and the yellow tygon, but other than price what is the difference? I'm assuming that t...

Making Memories on the old Spitfire
Today I was finally able to put in a good day of riding on the 1980 spitfire. This is my grandfather's sled and we have been working together to get it running for a few years now. 3-2-13 2.jpg When we started working we were just cleaning the carburetor and putting in new fuel lines. The two of us ...

Adjusting Spitfire Secondary
I have noticed that the secondary is out of alignment with the primary. I read through the service manual on how to do it and it seams fairly straight forward, but I am wondering where I can find the shims for this? Also, are there any special tricks for this that will make the job easier?
Thanks

Re: 81 spitfire issues
I had done a compression test and had 125 on both sides, new gas, and was not running it with the belt on when the engine was bogging down. However, I won't be running this engine again for a while as the pto side piston is now in a bunch of pieces and need to do a complete overhaul and find replace...

Re: 81 spitfire issues
I replaced the cdi box and the sled seems to sound like it is running stronger and doesn't die out like it is loosing spark when giving it throttle off of idle. It seems to be idling stronger now, but I have come across a new problem. It wants to bog down when I get it to about half to three quarter...

Re: Fuel tank grommet installation
Thanks for all the replies guys, it made a huge difference putting the grommet in first and then the fitting. Wish I had thought of that... Now if only it wasn't so cold and windy I could ride this thing! Wind chills from 20 to 45 below expected today

Re: Spitfire CDI?
Are there any ones that would work for my 80 spit? I cannot seem to find anything anywhere for the spit. Are there any from any other models that would work?
