Re: correct plug for a Kohler K2952AX in 1976 JD 300
I run the BR8ES or BR9ES in my Deere's depending on how the engine is coloring the plugs.

Re: Sportfire
In my opinion, the Sportfire is the best late model Deere for a reliable performance trail sled. It has the rubber track, better skid, good power from the low maintenance fan engine and only 1 carb to mess with. Many might argue the Liquifire is the best, but they're finicky on a good day and need a...

Re: Source for Ski Wear Rods.
Don Amber (Busco Bullet) has placed an order somewhere (maybe a machine shop) to have sets made of both 2 bolt and 3 bolt styles. He said roughly 3-4 weeks I believe.

Re: Snowfire flooding
Sorry guys.... been awhile I was and still am super frustrated. No snow in central Iowa anyway. But what I'm worried about is the upcoming high humidity coming here on summer and my motor is not broken in. Also all the flooding in the engine might have just wasted the $1000 plus I've put in the mot...

Re: Correct Tach?
The 10k tach you have is for older sleds that used the Kioritz engines. The white plastic piece inline with the wires is the give away. These were the only ones (as far as I remember) that used that tach. The stators are different, so the calibration of the gauge is different, which is why it isn't ...

Any luck figuring this one out yet? Odd problem for sure based on all the work/diagnosis you've done so far.

Re: 73 JDX4 project
Just reading this thread that hasn't been updated in exactly one year. What a coincidence. haha. I would run 50:1 with any modern 2-stroke "mineral" oil. AKA - standard oil, doesn't need to be synthetic. I run Arctic Cat "injection oil" as that's what my newer Cat runs (no power ...

Re: Trailfire Intake restricter
Interesting. My '82 340 Trailfire does not have the restrictor, but I'm pretty sure my '84 440 does have it. I will double check tonight if I remember.

Re: spitfire kawasaki piston
They updated the ring design. I can't remember which is which, but one is a keystone style and the other is square with a notch for the pin. Some say you can use them interchangeably on the pistons, but a check of the parts book gives different part numbers for the pistons as well. The change/cut of...

Re: Comet 102c parts
The Kawasaki and Kawi powered Deere sleds used the same base clutch. I'm guessing the spec is the same for the CCW/Kioritz engines as well that use a 30mm taper.

Re: Help 340 Trailfire
Lots of questions and info you need! vintagesnow.com might have a service manual and you can search the parts diagrams on Deere's website. It has the same photos used in the original parts books. Trailfire is just one listing, so you can easily see which clutch parts are the same between the two. Fr...

Re: Reproduction decal sets
I have an order in with AFE/JDsleddecals right now. They've been a long time producer. That said, someone told me recently of a "guy" that is making JD decals that he thought were made on higher quality materials, including a coating on the vinyl to help prevent scratching, etc. Of course ...
