Is this a piston port or reed valve kec440? From what I can find The piston port kec440s used in deere sleds had a factory timing spec of .023in btdc for 72/73 (sled serial sub 20000) or .015in btdc for the 74- (sn 20000+) The reed valve kec440s in deeres were .009in btdc, except for 73 (sn sub 2000...

Hi, recently picked up a clean, running JDX6. Sled had an inconsistent idle and at higher throttle power would come and go. Changed plugs and found #1 cylinder too rich/black and wet. pulling the #1 plug wire would also have only small impact on idle quality - pull #2 and it wants to die though can ...
