Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
I sent him a PM. I do have another 500, so I could cannibalize it to make one good engine and part out the rest, but ideally I'd like to get both running.

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Hey guys,
I am having trouble tracking down the correct pistons for my engine. Does anyone know which pistons I need? The side of the cylinder has KEC440 stamp into it. I measured the bore with some decent calipers and its around just under 68 mm.

Is one of these sealants something I can get from an advance auto parts, etc?

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Sounds good guys. I will inspect the inner seals; they felt a bit loose. What kind of sealant should use for the cases? I think I am going to put new rings on the pistons too. Know where I can buy those? Along with the retaining rings for the wrist pin? *EDIT: I really need to check the newbreedpart...

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Alight fellas, finally got this torn down to the crank. A few more questions. I promise they will stop at some point. I've rebuilt a number of dirt bike engines and small engines (lawn mowers, concrete saws, etc.) and I have never had such a hard time pulling the wrist pins as I did with this engine...

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Ahh yes. That is where I bought the crank seal kit.
I see the cases did not have a gasket, but it looks like they uses a liquid type of sealant. I don't trust myself resealing that way. Is there a gasket I can get for it?

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Thanks again guys. A little heat and the impact wrench and it popped right off.
I got heads pulled and I'll finish pulling the cylinders this weekend. I have a lot of cleaning to do.
I am also going to need gaskets. Anyone know where I can buy a kit?

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
It is the part from Dennis Kirk. Yes, I tried it and it bottomed out and came to bear on something. I didn't go too nuts with it, because i was worried I was pushing against the clutch itself. I have a Dewalt 1/2" drive cordless impact wrench. I will give it a try and see if I can get it off. I...

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Been a little while, but getting around to doing some work on my old sled. I bought a clutch puller based on this post: http://www.snowmobileforum.com/vintage-snowmobiles/50681-jd-liquifire-clutch-removal.html However, I think it's the wrong tool for the 101C drive sheave. The picture in the service...

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Thank you for the info Matt. I have switched my priority this weekend to getting my Ducati valve clearances checked, then I will tackle tearing down the engine next weekend (or this weekend if there is still time). Looks like it will be a summer project, but it's ok, I still have another sled I need...

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Thanks for info! Soooo where do I buy crank seals for this bad boy? Also, I got the engine pulled last weekend (probably a summer project now) and I am a bit confused at how to get the drive clutch off. I found an old copy of the service manual online, but it's still a bit confusing to me. For the f...

Re: Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
I have not taken off the exhaust yet. I will check it out; there was definitely a lot of mice homes under the hood. I thought I clean them all, never thought they would get into the exhaust though. I let you know what I find. I was hoping the seals would be ok, but guess I might not be so lucky. Doe...

Early 70's CCW-Kioritz 500
Hey all, New to the forums here, winter in Wisconsin has been great for snowmobiling so far. I acquired two very dusty, but great looking (after a bath) JD 500 sleds. I've been in the process of cleaning them up and recently tried firing one of them up. I cleaned the carb - looked fantastic (Walboro...
