Re: Trailfire won't rev...
It was a choke cable issue. The plastic boot that covers the cable connection to the carb is gone and some ice built up in the choke port. Thanks for the help. Been really busy but I've been able to have a little fun with the sled.

Re: Trailfire won't rev...
That was part of the problem before. I adjusted it but I'm wondering if it might be hanging up now. I will look into that when I get back home. The Trailfires do not have a rev limiter like the Liquifires do, correct?

Trailfire won't rev...
So I'm sure you guys are as sick of me asking questions about this sled as I am but I've got another problem. I had it running great after the help you guys gave me last week. We got some fresh snow and it drove pretty well. Had some clutching issues and I order a new drive belt due to some slippage...

Re: 1979 Trailfire won't run
Well I started at square one with the fuel system. Pulled the carb, pump and tank off the sled and cleaned everything out. I had flushed the tank in the past but when I started working on it again I didn't pull it I just drained the little bit that was in it. When I pulled it off and dumped it I thi...

Re: 1979 Trailfire won't run
Well you can't really tell much from that picture. What was the difference between the two carbs?

Re: 1979 Trailfire won't run
I have a manual so I will check. Will the carb kit that sledhead16 posted work for this carb? it says some VM34 trailfire carbs used VM30 rebuild kits.

Re: 1979 Trailfire won't run
Today I did some more tinkering. I tried moving the clip around and it seemed to be the best on the 4th position. I set the air screw at 1 turn out and I thought it was running pretty decent. I drove it around the yard a bit and I actually thought that it was fixed but after probably 10min of riding...

Re: 1979 Trailfire won't run
One other thing I forgot to mention. I do not have hose clamps on my impulse line. I plan on getting some just didn't have anymore left when I put it. Could that be killing my fuel flow when I get the case pressure higher at higher rpms?

Re: 1979 Trailfire won't run
I've cleaned the carb several times with no luck. I tried some different clip positions also. When I get richer the throttle seems to hang. It about got away from me. I cracked the throttle just a bit not expecting much and it reved suddenly and didn't come down very fast when I let out. That was on...

Re: 1979 Trailfire won't run

1979 Trailfire won't run
So I got some great help from everyone for my Trailfire 340 and it's electrical issues. After I got the electrical issue sorted I took everyone's advice and replaced the crank seals as well as all of the other gaskets. Yesterday I got the motor re-installed and started it up. It seemed to run good a...

Re: 79 TrailFire 340 Electrical Issues
So I did decide to take the advice and replace the crank seals. I found the pullers I needed at my work place so I was able to get the fly wheel and clutch pulled. I have the motor out and the bottom pulled off. Inside looks good, although the counter weight on the flywheel side of the crank is a bi...

Re: 79 TrailFire 340 Electrical Issues
Sorry for the slow replies, I can't seem to get the forum to work on my phone and I don't get on my computer much. When I received the sled it ran with new gas after a carb clean and new plugs. When I was talking about breaking seals I meant I never opened the motor up to look at pistons and cylinde...

Re: 79 TrailFire 340 Electrical Issues
Thank you for all the help! I ordered the cheaper CDI off of ebay. It came on Friday and I got it put in today. After a carb cleaning and some fresh gas it lives again! I have it as tuned as I can get it with out some snow. The motor had to have been gone through at some point before I got it. I can...
