I thought you guys would enjoy this old radio sound clip from Sept 26,1976 that has an ad for Deere sleds. The station was CKLW out of Windsor, Ontario and was quite the rock station back in the day. The Deere ad starts at the 26:20 time mark.

Lincoln - We are heading up on Friday morning to get some riding in before the Safari on Saturday. This will be our third year going up to Harbor Springs, the friendly people, beautiful trails and cool old sleds that show up make this a great event! Look me up if you make the trip, I will either be ...

[quote=John Deere sleds are what they are, your not going to make a super fast sled or sleeper no matter what you do to them.[/quote]
Sorry Dustin, I would have to disagree with you on this one. Deere sleds can be made to go fast with a big enough engine.

Re: looking to do a resto/mod lots of questions
hi Matt - the Cyclone / Liquifire makes a great chassis to mod, its very strong and there is a lot of room up front to stuff in late model power. The biggest hurdle I had on this build was the limited area to fit in a 1.25" lug track and a bulkhead heat exchanger. Once the drive axle, chaincase...

Re: The last update
The last time I stopped by to see Brian was back in 2012 and I was driving my Pontiac Fiero, on this trip I did have something with a little more leg room. I had a great time working with Brian on the old X8, can't wait to see it on the snow! http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac170/kwc29/IMG_1508_z...

Re: Mid-Mount Madness: "Katy's Bogie Bash" Sleds...
I thought that 400 looked familiar. Funny story on when I picked that sled up over on the east side of Michigan. The wife and I were on our way to a Fleetwood Mac concert over by Detroit and I talked her into leaving a little early to pick up "something". Only about 2 hours out of our way....

Re: RWTC preparation
I had actually been running mine at about 1.5 turns out, but the weather was quite warm (mid 30's)on the Friday poker run in 2010, so I thinned it back to about 1 turn because it was sluggish. When we got up Saturday morning the temps had dropped 25 degrees or so, and in the rush/excitment of gettin...

Re: RWTC preparation
The VC on a 800? NO PROBLEM ! If I can do it on the X8, you can do it on the 800. Kevin Campbell burnt down a 800 a few years back on the VC, but up to that point he was kicking my butt. Oh man, the failed mission of 2010, what great memories of having to ride the "trailer of shame" back ...

This is the third winter for my daughter riding a Spitfire, what a great sled for the kids. The first season I limited the throttle movement to about half with a hose clamp on handle grip.
