Re: Adding Tach to Trailfire LX
Awesome, thanks for the pic! I found that plug but I didn't think it was the right one because the plug for the speedo light was plugged into it. That's a big help!

Wanted: Trailfire seat backrest
I'm looking for a seat backrest for my Trailfire LX so my wife can ride with me in comfort. Doesn't have to be nice, in fact I'd prefer it in rough condition because I don't want to invest a lot. Thanks!

Adding Tach to Trailfire LX
My sled never had a tach but I wanted to add one, so I got a used tach for my 83 Trailfire LX. The tach has a 3-prong plug on the back of it, but I can't see where it should plug in on the sled. Can anybody show me a picture of where the tach plugs in?

Re: Trailfire LX questions - new rider
So I picked up a used tach for my trailfire. It has a 3 wire plug on it, but I can't see where to plug it in. Can anybody show me a picture of where to plug it in? Or where to find the plug?

Re: Trailfire LX questions - new rider
Thanks for the help guys. As you mentioned, I will be doing crank seals as soon as I get the time to tear it down in the shop. My shop is brand new and I'm still finishing the inside, so as soon as I get that done this will get torn down so I can go through it. It is super clean, and I got service r...

Trailfire LX questions - new rider
So, I'm looking forward to getting my new 83 Trailfire LX ready for the snow. I'm new to these machines, and to sleds in general, so go easy on a newbie... First question: How does the windshield attach? When I got the sled the windshield was on it, but not attached. There are no retainers with it e...

Re: New member, Trailfire LX
Thanks for the link, that will help a lot! I have already wondered what I've gotten myself into, but I really dig vintage stuff. I have 3 old Ford trucks that I tinker around with, and I just sold my 83 Honda CB650 bike, still kicking myself for that one. Also have a few vintage lawn mowers and have...

Re: New member, Trailfire LX
Thanks for the information guys, I really appreciate it. Trips to the DMV are not fun at all, but I can get a bill of sale wrote up for it so I'll take that to them and see if I can get a title for it. I saw on the link that Pat posted that there is an application for registration form on there, but...

Re: New member, Trailfire LX
So as I mentioned before, I don't know much about these machines, it's my first one. I assume that since this is a "trailfire" it was built more for low-speed trail riding and utility work. Is that correct? I assume the sportfire is more the racy-sporty machine. This one has a hitch on the...

Re: New member, Trailfire LX
Thanks, I'll look into that. From the looks of it it hasn't been messed with too much or torn apart much. So I'd assume they are original. I've done crank seals years ago on an old dirtbike I had, so I'm at least familiar with it.
