Wanted: Trailfire Skis
Seeking 1-2 good used skis to fit an '80 Trailfire. I'm located in central MN. If anyone can post what other skis may work (with little to no modifications) off other sleds feel free to post that info also. Thanks gentlemen!

Re: 80 Trailfire 340 won't rev up, high rpm troubles...
Compression is 150 PTO 145 MAG Swapped plugs and boots. After some WOT pulls: PTO side plug dry/MAG side wet. Same with previous plugs. Something must be different from side to side. I don't really suspect an ignition issue would cause a spark difference side to side unless it was the coilpack. I su...

Re: 80 Trailfire 340 won't rev up, high rpm troubles...
Also: Is there any difference between the 340 and 440 ignition systems at all same year for these sleds?

80 Trailfire 340 won't rev up, high rpm troubles...
Hi guys. It has been awhile since I have posted, have an issue with my 80 Trailfire. Any input or suggestions greatly appreciated. :beers; End of last season I noticed the sled was running crappy at high rpms only. I had very little time to look into it last year but did do a bit of a stress test on...

Have also purchased from "sledpartsguy" on ebay, zero issues. I'm almost positive mfg-supply stocks them also (black).

Wanted: Trailfire Plastic Thumb Throttle Mount/Kill switch..
Needs to fit an '80 Trailfire. Similar models are the same I'm sure... Looking for the plastic piece that mounts to the handlebars. Kill switch is mounted in this assembly. Thumb throttle is also mounted to this. Let me know if you have what you have with a price please. http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com...

Re: '80 TF 340 Lighting Coil? Working spec?
Just a quick update or /thread; sled is back together with all working lights and electric start. That stator with a lighting coil resistance of .5 ohms seems to work just fine. Sled runs well but starts hard, will look into that when I have time...

Re: Head light inop.
It sounds like you could possibly have a faulty voltage regulator. What kind of readings do you see on your meter? You can temporarily load test the headlamp circuit with just about any old sealed beam headlight if you happen to have one laying around...

Re: '80 TF 340 Lighting Coil? Working spec?
1980 fan cooled 340 Drifter shows the lighting coil should be 0.18 ohm....plus or minus 20 percent. You probably know it's best to check the coils when they are near room temperature. I am just guessing that the same coils were in the Trailfire. Since I have the manual open, the exciter coil should...

Re: '80 TF 340 Lighting Coil? Working spec?
I cannot find any of the coil resistance specs in any John Deere shop manuals...? Kawasaki lists them in their shop manuals....the 1980 fan cooled 340 Drifter shows the lighting coil should be 0.18 ohm....plus or minus 20 percent. You probably know it's best to check the coils when they are near ro...

Re: '80 TF 340 Lighting Coil? Working spec?
Couple of things to consider with this problem... Thanks for your reply. I am aware of what else can cause the lights not to work, sorry for not being clear. They may work just fine! I did not test and shouldn't have a problem fixing an external issue. Since I have the stator out: I'm just wonderin...
