OK, so I almost burned my 400 to the ground
Funny story, well sort of.. My JD 400 kinda let me down last winter and died on the road. So I was mad and dragged it into the garage at the cottage and left it. I was guilty of doing nothing all spring and summer and didn't even drain the gas. Last weekend I was up at the cottage with my 5 year old...

Interesting Chat at my Local JD Dealer
I had the pleasure a week or two ago to order a replacement brake band for my JD 400. The original part AM52626 now sub'd to TCA15878 . The part is still made as it is used on several other JD products. Placed a phone order, paid the $60.00 (ouch) by credit card and got a call 2 days later that the ...

UPS - Ever Wonder Why They Charge So Much?
I love UPS as they have an outragious brokerage fee for bringing items into Canada. In the past I have bought small items from US suppliers totaling maybe 5 to 10 dollars only to get a bill for $50 from UPS to cover their brokerage fees. (This is above the prepayed shipping) Fedex is another offende...

Recreation Supply
Found these guys by accident looking for some electrical parts for my JD sled.
They are located in Canada (nice for a change)
Can't vouch for them as I've not bought anything yet

295 Kohler ring gear hub
Been there... done that... I had the devil of a time getting mine off not once but twice .. The first time and then the second time when I pressed it in backwards.. broke a puller or two in the process. Start by removing the gear from the collar. Mine was a two piece unit. Get a good gear puller and...

Ah....The good old WDB-31... I swear at one point these Walbro carbs will be the cause of my next divorce.. After all my experience I would do the following.. Do a basic disassemble and see just what shape things are in.. If she's clean looking I'd replace the diafram (sp) do a general cleaning and ...

what would you do?
I've had similar issues in the past and for the most part what can you do...??? You concluded a deal in good faith only to have this clown take advantage of your good nature. If it was earlier in the month and you still needed the cash I would have sold the sled again. I don't think I would have kep...

Compression test
If the engine was rebuilt and shows such awful compression on one side it would appear they just threw in a set of new rings and never checked the tolerances of the bore. If you can get the heads off try micing the bores and comparing the values to the specs for your machine.. If I remember correct...

Hi Mitch If the cylindars are chromed don't hone as it will remove the chrome... I don't know if your model had chromed cylindars or not . I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable members can advise on that.. If the engine was rebuilt and shows such awful compression on one side it would appear they ...

Hey Richard I just finished setting up the timing on my 300 and I also ran into a few glitches till I got it right.. If the gap is still closed when checking BTDC you maybe doing what I did and confused the #1 cylindar with #2 . This was a real rookie ops on my part as I figured anyone who tears a m...

buying a sled/vehicle in Canada vs USA
There was a news report that ran here in Ottawa a few weeks ago on Canadian customers heading south and buying from the US and importing back into Canada. For the most part they said the process was fairly straight forward and a fair saving could be had depending on make and model bought .. But ther...

To be honest the question would be do you want this sled bad enough to pay the asking price. If so then at least the sled is worth $1100.00 to you. I have a 74 300 and it has a special bond to me as I break it and it lets me fix it. Over and over again... Not the sleds fault BTW.. Just me and the le...
