Re: 1981 Trailfire skis

With this question answered... My father has asked me to find him a correct ski. I believe the part number is AM 54912.
We would consider purchasing one if the price is reasonable. Please let me know if you have one.
I will post this in the classified section also. Thank you.

Re: 1981 Trailfire fuel line route

Remember that this picture is taken with the sled half disassembled. The wires were run in the position you see above. We have repaired the wires and have put heat shrink tubing on the wire loom. It is all ready to lay back in its proper place and route through the J hooks in pan and hood. Thanks fo...

Re: 1981 Trailfire fuel line route

We will replace the green tube. The electrical wires are just sitting there for now since the sled is mostly disassembled. We will lay the wires in the correct spot when we put it back together. Thanks for the comments guys.

1981 Trailfire fuel line route

What is the proper route for the fuel line on a 1981 Trailfire? Here is a picture of our current restoration project. We have the blue fuel line routed through a out of the fuel pupm through a clip, underneath the steering column and motor mount plate, and up around to where it will connect to the c...

1981 Trailfire skis

My father has a 1981 Trailfire 340 he is restoring and it has two different skis on it. Can anyone tell me which of the two skis in the picture (if any) is the correct ski for the sled? I believe it is the one with a squared rear end on the bottom of the pictures. The one on top I believe is a Denni...

1972 and 1973 JD 500 carb issues

The sleds fired up today. My dad had a JD tech manual which shows the additional fuel pump can be used. Our problems was air leaking in the top of the pickup line in the gas tank. The clamp was not on tight and air was getting in the intake line. It is running great. For information on the vintage r...

1972 and 1973 JD 500 carb issues

OK. This set up is the way we found it.
It does look wierd and we will remove the separate fuel pump and plug off one of the impulse lines. I guess one impulse line was added when the original owner added the separate filter. Thanks for the comments.

1972 and 1973 JD 500 carb issues

My father and I have restored two JD sleds and will be taking them to West Yellowstone, MT in March for the 3rd Annual Vintage Round-Up. We have filled the tanks with 40:1 mixed gas, pressurized the tank a little and have been able to pull gas up to the carbs. It appears, however, that the engine wa...
