Just came to me, be hard to keep the oil out of the intake & exhaust ports as well.

Seems large diesel engines such as those used in ships & locos are 2 stroked. W/ the addition of a turbo or supercharger to pressurize the intake externally these engines are able to use a wet oiled crankcase as w/ a 4 stroke.
