Backfire on 80 liquifire.
I am not sure how you test a CDI, I had read a posting from a while back on how to rebuild a coil but it seemed a bit over my head, I have three sleds, so I took a CDI off of the one that was running and switched it. The machine ran quite well so I ordered a new CDI to replace the swaped one. I orde...

choke cable
Hello Jeff: My service manual says to pull the choke assembley out of the carb, and with the choke lever in the off possition adjust the choke so that there is between 31 and 33mm from the end of the choke plunger(very bottom) to the flat part on the bottom side of the brass nut that treads into you...

Backfire on 80 liquifire.
One of my 1980 liquifires was running very strong, I parked it for a couple of days inside. When i went to start it, it started harder than normal and when I pulled it out of the shop it boged quite bad and quit. I got it running again, but while pulling and then while running it would backfire and ...

Problem finding gas cap
I found one at my local co-op farm supply centre, it is for a kohler small engine, it has a fuel guage on it similar to the original and it has a closeable breather plug on it. it doesn't have the John Deere emblem on it but it was only $14.00 cdn.

80 liquifire power loss,clutching?
Hi Don,
I would honestly try a new belt first, if it is sitting down 1/4 inch on the secondary it will create a bit of a bog on take off. the belt should sit flush with the outer edge of the secondary pully.

80 liquifire power loss,clutching?
Hello 440z: I am new to this site, but I have 3 1980 440 liquifires, low end boging can be caused by a worn belt, it should sit damn near flush with the top of your secondary. I also had a problem with it boging on an incline, it drove me nuts, I finaly found out the the in tank fuel suction line ha...
