peak engine rpm on 81 liquifire?
i just thought of someting else. it may be possible that the vent tube is pinched somewhere, creating a vaccume, causing the sled to run for a while and then quit. also it may be affecting the fuel pumps ability to work properly.

rev limmiter
the 81 liquifire has a rev limiter, but its function is not to prevent overrev but it is a safety device intended to limit the engine rpm (approx 3200 rpm) and below clutch engagement speed in the event of a stuck or iced open slide. im not sure if you can unhook it but the throttle switch can be by...

peak engine rpm on 81 liquifire?
as for clutching, i think it is in order. engagement is 45+. marked both pulleys and they are shifting all the way. sled wont rev out even with the track raised. i found the ground wire on the coils was broken, when i was trying a new (used) coil. did not help. i have monkey'd with the timing, advan...

peak engine rpm on 81 liquifire?
liquifire pulls to 7000 across the lake. wont rev higher no matter what. seems to attain this rpm from half throttle to full.
engine feels very peaky but wont go faster than 7000. is this correct? or should it rev more?

good idea, that motor and parts for it are as rare as hens teeth. this will give you a chance to ride it without worrying, about the engine at least.

dont buy generic o rings from a jobber if you want the repair to last. not all o rings are created equal. there are different rubber formulations for oil, gas, antifreeze, atf, dextron II, hydraulic, etc, etc. many a guy has had to split a tractor in half to replace a $10 o-ring because he thought h...

im not sure how your machine is constructed but if it is a high tec injection moulded plastic then fiberglass repairs will not last 5 minutes. find out for sure. if it is fiberglass i would recommend useing epoxy resin, it is 5 times the cost but 10 times the strength of polyester resin. snowmobiles...

some interesting points here, the factory tuning may not be ideal for all locations. obviously a sled running at 4000 feet will not be tuned the same as one running at sea level. factory tuning is a good baseline that is probably conservative and will get you in the ballpark. over a variety of condi...

try torqueing the cylinders a couple times. pull them up (very slowly) a couple pounds over spec. use a combination wrench on the hidden studs and pull by feel.

the condition of the engine is pretty hard to predict, unless you have a crystal ball.
if you need confirmation as to wether or not to buy the parts motor i would say for $50 yes. its worth the gamble.
