Re: 80 LF post rebuild 1st startup problems
this is why i wrote in a few times to tell folks there is know need to separate the head from the jugs on a kawasaki liquifire engine. to do a crank seal job. one may cause more problems than he realizes. all you need to do is remove the 4 long stud bolts that go through the jug and leave the small ...

Re: Sportfire/Trailfire oil pump line
After working on these since the 70's I found to fill the lines before you start is the best way. I do it with a bottle that has a squirt top as used in chem labs (water bottle). The top fits into the oil line you must only remove the other end untill it fills. It will not fill if attached. I use th...

Re: Liquifire engine rebuilds
if your head to cylinder gaskets are good you can just remove the four long stud nuts and remove the cylinder head togeather i did this severaltimes and it works well. and no need to buy head gaskets and deal with trying to seal the head gaskets. just a short-cut i leaned myself. that way you just b...

Re: tools, techniques, shortcuts, bargains
I painted one of my liquifires with a HVLP from HF and it turned out great with a black and a clearcoat. Professional body shops are using them too. It turns out that the chineese copy the best design and reproduce millions. You can get them cheap on sale. I have several and painted my deere backhoe...

Re: liquifire /invader heads
The issue of the 4/6 cylinder is that unless you have the proper pistons you end up using invader/liquifire pistons and never benefit from the extra ports in the 4/6 cylinders. the pistons for the 4/6 have a different design for that engine. it is very hard to find the proper pistons for them.one ye...

this past weekend i replaced the front and rear springs on a 80 liquifire. on the front, i had to cut a 13 inch long slit through the steel outer tube and springs. it is a steel outer hollow tube on a solid steel shaft (tunnel mount) that was rusted solid then used a chisel two separate the innersha...

Re: carb flanges
the shorter ones work great and make the air box removal much easier. the cheapies usually do bad on the engine pressure test; they leak at the center. I use fel-pro thermostat gaskets available at any auto parts store and put seal -all on both sides. this works great. all the other good sealers lik...
