This question is related to the flywheel sort of. Long story short i had to cut the 3 wires from the staiter when i removed it. The brown wire i can figure out. My question is does it matter which way the yellow wire are hooked up? Can i interchange them if i guess wrong?

Ok. I was able to get get the engine clean. Installed new seals and have reassembled it. Another amateur question here. Which way is the exhaust manifold supposed to go? With long solid bar on the bottom or top ? Thanks

Thanks everyone. Success, i used penetrating oil and let pressure on it over night. Popped off with a good smack from the hammer

Thanks, amateur question here but are you talking about the actual clutch on the engine or the pulley on the cross shaft to the chain case?

There is a hole in the flange where the exhaust goes over the y pipe. Could this be causing me troubles?

1981 440 sportfire. When you first take off the clutch is rough. As you are driving its nice and smooth. What would cause it to engage hard?

Unfortunately the previous owner has no idea. So should i do a compression test or just reseal with a new gasket set?

My 1981 440 sportfire has been sitting for a year before I bought it. When i first start it, it idles and runs ok. After it warms up it idles low(around 1500) and surges up and down 300 rpm. I have replaced the fuel filters and gas lines and gas. I have cleaned the carb and put the airbox back on it...
