Re: Kevin's Liquifire

Those sleds look great Nick. If I can get mine to look half that good I’ll be surprised. Looked like a good sized crowd

Re: 1981 Liquifire restoration

Thanks Nick for the info. Carter whatever you use to seal up the case with just be somewhat careful to not apply too much. The white stuff on the case halves of this engine had more than plenty and I’m careful getting it cleaned out of spots on the crank that it got into…… some of my trailfires were...

Re: 1981 Liquifire restoration

Carter me and you are in the same boat so I’ll throw a few questions out for the experts… My engine I believe is all original and has never been into. It has this white stuff all over and it is what was sealing the case halves. I compare it to hylomar that I’ve used in the last 15 years to seal up w...

Re: 1981 Liquifire restoration

Welcome to the forum. I haven’t been a member too long but there are others that have lots of experience. Search the forum for things you don’t understand or need more info on. There is a ton of great info here that’s already been discussed in previous topics. A tech manual will be helpful as well. ...

Great stories and pictures, keep it up. Looks like a fun time and I’m hopeful at some point in the future I can journey north and tag along with the group. Glad you got snow up there!

Re: 81+ skis

So I looked at parts breakdown for the springs and skis under trailfire model. Looks like there were two older part number springs for below 120,000 serial or 79 model year, AM54967 and AM54940. These would both sub up to the 120,001 or 80+ model year spring which is part number AM55016. Skis on 155...

Re: Trailfire Drive Bearing Help

Interesting. I will have to investigate my machines and see if they have the other collar or not. I love this site for info like this…… plus we can all search for it 10 years from now and easily find it still. Might save us lone wolves on the outskirts of snow territory some heartache and used parts...

Re: 1980 Trailfire flywheel removal

I generally find that the flywheel is tough, especially if you're fairly certain it's never come off before. I've tightened my puller until I think something is going to break. I know it's not a recommended practice, but I get it very tight until I think the attaching bolts will shear or something,...

Re: 80 Trailfire & 81 sportfire

The storm that was forecast was fairly accurate and we ended up with I'm guessing around 8 inches of snow total since last Sunday. This prompted me to burn up some of the PTO I had been storing up in hopes that at some point this winter we would get such an event. It was worth it! The sportfire and ...

Re: Trailfire liquifire sportfire carb recommendations

I haven’t had my mine for all that long really but I’d say that yes it takes a little cranking to prime the fuel back up after sitting for a longer period of time. I do not have shut off valves on any of mine at this time but I’m thinking of adding them just to keep fuel where it belongs while stori...

Re: Trailfire liquifire sportfire carb recommendations

Glad it helped out! Mine sure seem to run well having the recommended jetting for where I’m at. That is a nice looking machine! Looks identical to the one I have just a lot more mint condition!

Re: 81+ skis

So my 81 sportfire has skiis that are the same….. missing the welded plate. Not sure if they are narrow shock mount, will need to investigate further. Have been running my machine over some rough drifts and I’ve caught a little air on some occasions…… I feel like my one leaf spring is now collapsed ...

Re: 80 Trailfire & 81 sportfire

So there appears to be a snowstorm lurking around the corner in the lower Midwest……. Last year I’d just acquired the first two trailfires close to thanksgiving when we got a big snow and I had no idea what I was doing to make them run right at that point. Did my research here on the forum and got on...

Re: Mouse, rat, rodent prevention - Intake hose cover

I think a couple of my machines had something similar but not nearly as clean looking as that. I’d considered screen but in my shed wasps and other crawly things seem to always be present so wanted something solid especially for the summer. I’d say most all mine have had evidence of mice in the air ...
