Any Interest For Reproducing Some 340/S Parts

Post by 69camaro »

I'm posting this for Kenny. Checking to see if there is any interest in reproducing the airbox, piece that goes from the carb to the airbox, the hose that goes from the airbox to the fan, the shroud on the fan, and the plastic that attaches to the hood. I could get part numbers and pictures if I knew how to get on the John Deere site that has these diagrams or if someone could post these that would be great. Kenny says he would take this on if there were enough interest. Probably 50 orders minimum for any parts to be made.

Thanks Duane

Ummmmmm, I'm on the fence here. Guessing that if I didn't have, let's say, an intake hose I would like to have one reproduced. On the other hand as one with some 340/S parts I'd hate to see competition. Interested in how those with parts feel versus those without.

Most of those items are needed if you are using a repro hood, and don't have the original to take the innards out of.

When we were working on the "Make a Wish" 340/S, I found the intake hose to be VERY hard to find, and no one was successful in finding something that would work. I wound up buying a chunk of flex hose from McMaster Carr.
Rainville has claimed to be working on reproducing the air scoop that goes on the engine, it will be ready in time for Waconia 2010.

50 units could be the issue. Speak up guys.

Like Brian says keep it coming or it's a dead issue. These are the hardest parts to find to do a complete restoration. It takes at least 50 pre-orders to make it happen. Everyone should know there is a lot of work involved and Kenny always comes through. I'm writing this because Kenny is not by a computer right now. I'd probably order everything I need and double it in case I find another 340/s. I have no idea how many 340/s sleds are out there but there has to be enough to fill these orders. There were enough orders for Dator air boxes and there were double the 340/S produced.

I sure hope there is more interest in this myself. Other wise we are all going to have to duke it out for Dons 340/S stash.

these are my observations but repopping 340/s stuff is a tuff deal , i have done dashes, coil brackets, motor mounts and hood guide brackets . i have traded a few items to people, the rest are either in matts inventory or crammed into the 3rd story of my corn crib , im not sure any of my parts have ever been sold for cash , i applaud kenny for his always successful projects. i hope this one flys i have 3 sleds that need these parts and will support the effort for 2 extra sets but people need to step up here for sure .btw, i think there is still a large surplus of dator air boxes available too . wade
