Wanted: 84 Liquifire Flywheel

Post by Steve »

Need flywheel with ring gear for 84 Liquifire. Noticed magnets came off after removal on the one I own. Would appreciate knowledge on any other models with flywheels that could be swapped. Thanks, Steve

Steve,

I believe you can use any of any of the kawasaki flywheels with the ring gear on it. I had to change one out with a similar problem back a few years ago and I used one off a trail and it worked fine for me. But thats my 2ct. Other may now differently.

Just press the ring gear off your flywheel and press it on another one

Has anyone confirmed that the HSR ignition uses the same flywheel? I thought they were a little different, but could be wrong.

Thanks Dustin,
I'm wondering the same thing. I'm going to try one off an 80 trailfire. It'll be awhile before I reassemble the engine, so if someone got further insight, I'd appreciate it.

I am pretty positive the HSR LF used a different flywheel.

I did a conversion many years ago and they are not the same flywheel.

The flywheels and stators for the HSR ignition are different, but if you do a search on the board there was a post by Pete Duncanson (That Girl Racing) a few years back that stated that they would interchange. You can use a later HSR box with an early stator and flywheel and early CDI and coil with a HSR stator and flywheel. Here is the post: http://www.jdsleds.com/community/viewto ... 91&p=42566

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm excited to get the Liquifire together for this season, and this is a great forum. I appreciate a place to go for help where there's a lot of people with a common interest.
