Today I took apart my spare trailfire engine. One cylinder has cast into it 440/2A and the other has just 400 cast into it. The pistons are real close but one does not copletely thru the bore and the head has a copper ring on it where the other does not. which is correct for the trailfire 440 and what did the other cylinder come from?
Thanks

Re: Trailfire Cylinder casting number?
The 440/2a I THINK is from a Sportfire/Drifter/Intruder engine. I know they use copper head gaskets.
That is strange I did not think the cylinders from a T7 would go on a T1

82-84 trailfires use a copper head gasket.
Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.

That 400 jug maybe from the old Cat era.
It may have been bored and sleeved for 440.

I think Todd would be correct. early cat 400. or the possibilty of a later sno jet/kawasaki but i am not aware of any 400cc engines used in the 77' era.

One reason why I am wondering is because I want to buy a gasket set, what set do I buy? I also noticed the keepers on the piston pin are different but that could be from different manufacturers. I am thinking from what your telling me the 440/2A should be correct for the trailfire.
