NOS 340/S OEM Bumper

Post by ICCSF 108 »

Does anyone of you 340/S guy's have a NOS or unmolested OEM ( narrow ) 340/S front bumper that I could use to make a template from ( meaning for the correct placement & contour of the bends ) ???

Any Interest in Repoped 1st generation 340/S bumpers??

Well guy's it seems like this probably won't happen, although I do have another option to look into.. The first try has a minimum order of 1000 lbs of extruded aluminum, this would be enough to reproduce about 126 340/S bumpers, I don't think there would be enough room in my casket after Carla installs the 75+ Bull Whip drivers that are already scheduled to go with me to the other world for 100+ 340/S bumper or 50 16' sticks.. :snooty:
Does anyone know of anyother bumpers for other sleds that would use this style of extruded aluminum? or does anyone want to speculate on the futures price of scrape aluminum to purchase about 50 16' strips?

Hi Kenny,

I would buy 2 but I don't know what other sleds would use that material (oh, and by the way happy belated birthday!).

Thanks,
Craig

Wade & others, They are telling me that it would be a cost of about $4.75 per Lb. for 1000Lbs. of Extruded Aluminum & that would yield about 70-71 sticks for the extrusions & their probably would be a small cost for the mold to produce the Extruded Aluminum strips 18' long ea which would yield 2 bumpers per strip, now keep in mind this is only for production of the Extruded Aluminum, it does NOT cover any mold & Labor for bending into bumpers..

Hey where's that serial number?

What would people be willing to pay for these ? It sounds like it would take 5k to get aluminum made plus the bending , then have 10-15 bumpers sell would make them expensive . Wade

Wade I'm not really sure, I was wondering if a person could hand bend the extrusions with the help of a jig or hydraulic bender ??

Brian, you want every dimension? there are a lot of angles etc., as I'm sure you know by looking at your 340/S bumper?? or am I not sure what your really asking here??

Not the dimensions of the bumper, the dimensions of the stock.

I don't have an original 340/S bumper to look at, both of mine have Cyclone bumpers on them.

The original was a C-channel extrusion? Wondering what the height and width of the channel was, and the thickness of the stock.
