Picked Up Another Cyclone 440 Today
I know it is a 1976. It was manufactured in 1975. The VIN number does not match the list of VIN's for a 1976 Cyclone 440. http://www.jdsleds.com/models/cyclone/cyclone.html The number is J44FC 070298M. Any body know why it would be different?

I think you are right about it being a 1977. The prefix still should be J44FF and not J44FC.lwb140 wrote:looks like a 77 doesnt have the ribs near the spindles like a 76 would have wade

Ski's aren't correct but might be valuable if they're good. Most common mistake I've found in JD's serial numbers have been the letters after the model. Not unusual.

Re: Picked Up Another Cyclone 440 Today
Maybe it's a replacement tunnel and they messed up when etching the numbers. Or, just a typo like DA suggested. The skis are 1975 mid-mount style.

Re: Picked Up Another Cyclone 440 Today
Thanks for all the replys. I am still new at this. So it is a 1977 Cyclone with the wrong skis. Serial number is just a typo.

Re: Picked Up Another Cyclone 440 Today
My brother has purchased several Cyclones, and I think out of four or five of them, I think only one had the correct skis. The rest all had the earlier flat loop skis on them. What is up with that?
