Taillight with no brake light

Post by Bardtj »

I have a 1974 JD 300. My running light works, however I have no brake light. Any help?

Check the bulb first. 1157. Make sure the ground wire is good.

Then look at the brake switch in the grip.
You can unplug the two wire connector behind the dash and jumper the two contacts.
This should light the bulb.

If not check the switch with a ohmmeter at the connector while it is unplugged.
Lever at rest, open curcuit. Lever squeezed, closed curcuit.

Also look at the wire under the seat.
