replacing hyfax slides
any tips on removing old hyfax slides? I put a screw in the end and put a pair of vicegrips on the end and heated the old slides with a heat gun, and then beat on the vicegrips with a BFH (big freaking hammer) after about an hour, I only moved the one slide about 12". any tips would be gratly appreciated, thanks

I dont think youve melted them. i have had my best luck by using a rubber hammer and a small block of wood, place the wood against the leading edge and tap toward rear of suspension. they will come.

If you have a slide hammer/dent puller, simply screw it in the end of the slide(pre drill a pilot hole first) and hammer it out.

This may sound dumb, but did you loosen off your track? Any little bit of friction will make it a bugger to get them off. Also, when the track is loose, it is easier to get a hammer and a blunt punch into there to pound them out. Later...

Oh yeah, also try spraying a little penetrating fluid along the skid so it can run into the sliders. This may help....

I loosened the track but its just being a pain in the but. the old ones were so bad that they actualy wore through the hyfax to the metal and wore a spot through the metal and that is where the left is catching. the penitrating oil helped some. thanks guys, I appreciate all the help from this forum.
