Got it running good, just filled it up with fresh gas/oil mix.
Still have a question about recoil.
Engine was a little screwed up when I got it and recoil would not retract all the way so the rope is frayed (not too bad) from brake assembly.
The spec for the rope is 1/4" nylon braided 72" long. I went to the hardware store and bought the same 1/4" nylon braided rope. When I got home, I felt the new rope and it was kinda soft and fluffy. One on sled seems harder and more durable. Also, the one I bought said its rated at 46 pounds and I know this sled is harder to pull then that.
I just don't want to through the trouble of installing this new rope and having it snap at first pull.
Some of my sleds from the past had a 3/16 steel cable nylon coated for recoil. Do you think I should get a steel cable or trust my new rope or maybe trust the frayed one?

Re: Recoil help
It doesn't sound like the hardware store rope is the right material. I have 3/16" recoil rope in the New Breed Store, which I'm told is not quite the right size, but does work.

Re: Recoil help
I'm convinced they don't make rope like they used too.
Problem is with the stronger 1/4" stuff you wont get the same length on the spool and this will make for a shorter pull stroke.
Now if your sled fires and starts on one rev great but.....
The best way to kill a new rope is to bottom it out at the end of the pull stroke.
My advise is to find the best rope you can get that is the same size and pay a little more.
My local hardware store carries 3 different ropes and the best one is the way to go at .75 cents a foot.
Leave the 22 cent a foot rope for someone who needs to tie up their shitze-ooh.
