Stator and HSR Question

I have done some reading and it seems that I can run my 80s Liq stator with my HSR box? Has anyone done this? I have the correct stator and flywheel for the box as well. I was thinking maybe it would be easier then swapping over only to find out my HSR doesn't work anymore. Plus it would be nice to only have to plug CDI box in and coil as opposed to ripping stator out if it did fail. Thanks.

You can use the HSR ignition box with an early stator and vice versa to my understanding as well. Just remember that the early and HSR engines used a different flywheel housing. The HSR ingition box won't fit on an early flywheel housing were the coil was. I have run into this on my '84 Liquifire. I have the correct ignition and was only going to change the cdi/coil to the HSR box, but I need to change the housing so the motor pretty much needs to come out anyway to get the bottom bolt at the back. I could swap the stator while I am at it, but I don't think it is really necessary.

Thanks for the Info! I figured the flywheel housing needed to be changed. Its only a rider and not a show sled so I would use the fabed mount the Previous owner made. I just wanted to confirm it would work.
