76 Liquidfire Value
76 Liquidfire Value
Considering selling my 76 340 Liquidfire and was wandering what would be a reasonable price to ask? Sled is in good condition overall, couple of cracks in the seat, hi/low beam and key switch need replaced, speedometer doesn't work, couple of scratches in hood. Starts easily and runs great. Has always been stored indoors. I've owned for 30+ years.

AJPE,
Welcome aboard. The '76 340 was a very dependable but heavy snowmobile. It's weakest link is the lack of suspension travel. The handle-bar switches are hard to find as well as the proper 100mph speedo. since it has been been stored inside, the paint and decals should still be in good shape. Pictures are always a plus. The price depends on how quickly you want to sell it. There could be alot of '76 Liquifires out there so the purchaser would be a collector looking for that particular model/year or a newby getting started in the vintage line. A fair price would be some where in the $250 to $350 or more range. Problems with the track, major cracks in the hood, seat recovering are things that would bring the price down.
Does it still have the cleats that cover the track from left to right completely or does it have the replacement 2/3 cleated track?

Really in no hurry to sell just don't ride this sled anymore because I have a newer machine. Track is 2/3 cleated. Not sure if speedometer issue is speedometer itself or cable. Hood and body of sled is good.

Re: 76 Liquidfire Value
Just a note about the speedometer not working - some times this is a sign that the driveshaft bearing on the speedometer drive side is failing. As the bearing fails the driveshaft starts to shift out of position, which breaks the speedometer drive key off, therefore the speedo stops working.

Nice looking sled. Are the original skis, front shocks and rear shock still on it? Any bearings replaced over the years? Any engine work done to it?

Thanks, the skis and shocks are all original. No internal engine work done to it. I did replace a stator on it once and I believe I've put two(2) CDI boxes on it over the 30 years. I did at one point put bearings on the front track drive shaft but it's been probably 25 years ago.
