We have been told repeatedly on this site to replace the crank seals when getting an old sled going. I didn't do this two years ago when I got my 76 cyclone. It ran good, why fix what ain't broke. Because you don't know when you can't see what is happening.
I vowed that sled would have new seals this year before fresh gas went in the tank.
Turns out PTO seal was causing a mess already and the mag side was rubbing on the flywheel til the seal was shiny metal.
One more ride could well have been too many. This sled has been opened before, the two center clips on the flywheel were AWOL. So maybe the seals weren't as old as the sled. Will be up and running soon and we DO HAVE SNOW. 10 to 11 inches this week, just in time for the 33rd Midnite Riders Old Timers Run at Lake Park!!
